Biography

With several years of experience as a therapist and more than ten years of experience working in the mental health field, Kim graduated with a Master of Social Work from the University of Utah in 2021. However, it was during her time as an undergraduate at Southern Utah University that she found excitement and fascination with the field of psychology.

While a student, she fell in love with research and presented her studies throughout much of the Western United States. Over time, Kim honed in on clinical psychology through employment experience while working at treatment centers for adolescents. As a graduate student, she gained experience utilizing therapeutic modalities in the residential treatment center setting, intermediate school social work, and employment within Dove Center’s shelter for domestic and sexual assault.

Ultimately, she became truly devoted to working in the mental health field and went on to complete a Masters of Social Work through the University of Utah and obtained clinical social work (CSW) credentials to focus on client therapy.

While Kim has a broad range of experience in multiple modalities, she specializes in the areas of trauma, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, child and adolescent therapy, domestic violence/sexual assault, and behavioral issues/anger management. She strives to provide a safe and confidential space where clients can feel empowered both in sessions and their daily lives. She offers a vast array of knowledge coupled with judgment-free compassion and warmth. When working with Kim, you truly have an ally as you work to heal.

She is a firm believer in collaborative care and wants her clients to have a say in what is and is not effective in their care plan. Paired with her honest, clear communication and direct insight she loves enabling someone to heal and find strength within themselves. Her deep fascination with each individual’s ability to endure and push forward through any mental health battle they may face is the highlight of her career.

Outside of the office, Kim recharges by spending time with friends, family, and her two dogs! She thrives on connecting with others, and as a result, finds herself as a frequent host of barbecues and holiday parties. She is a travel savant with trips to Japan, Spain, and much of Europe under her belt; and finds that her excursions not only allow her to learn about different cultures but also herself. Kim is also a mom to a wild and fiercely independent toddler who enjoys keeping her on her toes.

As a mental health provider, she works daily to break the stigma surrounding mental health and hopes to normalize the issues that everyone faces daily. She aims to make seeking mental health treatment as accepted as going to a doctor for a physical checkup.
